BIOGRAPHY: Born and raised in Boston, Gerald Berns is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Boston University School of Law. A member of the Missouri Bar in the early 1970s, he worked as a 'Vista' lawyer for the Legal Aid Society of St. Louis, later recruiting lawyers for both 'Vista' and the Peace Corps. After playing semi-pro baseball and moving back to Boston, Berns left law for a career in theater and film. A resident actor with The Boston Repertory Theatre from 1972-1977, he appeared in over 20 theatre productions, starring in the world premieres of Harry Nilsson's musical, "The Point" - creating the role of "The Rockman" - and Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s "Player Piano" - creating the role of "Kroner". Moving to Los Angeles in 1977, Berns began writing. First represented as a writer by the Irv Shechter Agency, more recently he has been represented by the William Morris Agency and the Paradigm Agency. Presently six of his screenplays are in development. As an actor, since moving to Los Angeles, Berns has appeared in many television productions, commercials, and movies. On stage in Los Angeles, he has was seen in "Outward Bound", a production at the Hudson Backstage, and at Ojai's Theatre 150 in "True West" by Sam Shepard, a production Mr. Shepard attended and called "one of the best productions" he'd seen of the play.
