British character player who first performed at age 35 with 'Joan Littlewood' (qv)'s Theatre Workshop in the 1960 stage musical "Fings Ain't Wot They Used to Be", and continued with the company in other productions.
Served in the Royal Air Force during World War Two. However the war finished before he had the chance to complete his pilot training.
