TRIVIA:
- After his split from Durant, he found minor comedy parts in 40s and 50s films. His last feature film role was a bit part as a country neighbor to Loretta Lynn (played by 'Sissy Spacek' (qv)) in _Coal Miner's Daughter (1980)_ (qv).
- Short, stocky, mischievous-looking American comic who first entered contests imitating 'Charles Chaplin' (qv). Broke into vaudeville with a comedy acrobatic troupe and later toured with the International Seven in Europe. Also performed stunts on horses in the circus.
- His short-lived teaming with 'Jack Durant (I)' (qv) in vaudeville and Broadway led to minor success in films.
- Appeared on the stage with 'Jack Durant (I)' (qv) as Mitchell & Durant.
- He and Durant worked together providing comic relief in such Alice Faye musicals for Fox as _She Learned About Sailors (1934)_ (qv), _365 Nights in Hollywood (1934)_ (qv) and _Music Is Magic (1935)_ (qv). They eventually broke up to pursue separate careers.
- Replaced comic actor 'Dub Taylor (I)' (qv) in the "Cannonball" role in Columbia westerns during the 1940s.
