- Took his stage name from the German composer 'Engelbert Humperdinck (I)' (qv).
- Engelbert was made an honorary doctor of music by the University of Leicester in January 2006.
- He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
- Born in Madras, India, but raised in Leicester, England.
