She was the original voice of Madame Leota in The Haunted Mansion ride in Disneyland.
New York born, stage-trained actress who specialized in snobbish society matron types, most notably in the recurring role of 'Eddie Albert' (qv)'s character's mother on _"Green Acres" (1965)_ (qv). She is probably best known, however, as the voice of two of Disney's most memorable animated villainesses: Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother, in _Cinderella (1950)_ (qv) and, nine years later, as the evil fairy Maleficent in _Sleeping Beauty (1959)_ (qv). She also served as the physical model for both characters.
Played Oliver Wendell Douglas' (Eddie Albert''s) mother in _"Green Acres" (1965)_ (qv) despite being only a year older than Albert.
