- Long married to actress 'Susanne Zenor' (qv), also of "Days of Our Lives". She played Margo Anderman Horton in 1977 and left the show in 1980, the same year as Ed.
- Father of 'John Mallory Asher' (qv) with 'Joyce Bulifant' (qv).
- He directed several daytime serials and wrote, directed, and produced documentaries for The History Channel and A&E.
- His son was adopted by 'Joyce Bulifant' (qv)'s next husband, 'William Asher' (qv).
- Taught and was artist-in-residence at Frostburg State University in Maryland.
