  • Is the third cousin of singer 'Phyllis Hyman' (qv).
  • He began his fifty-plus year career as a 17-year-old extra in 'Billy Wilder' (qv)'s _The Lost Weekend (1945)_ (qv).
  • He was cast as the father of Bill Cosby on "The Cosby Show" even though he is only 9 years his senior.
  • Speaks fluent Norwegian.
