- Probably best known for his portrayal of "Mr. Whipple" for 25 years in Charmin commercials.
- Became a comic dancer in vaudeville before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force early in World War II and serving as a fighter pilot against the German Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain in 1940.
- Moved to the United States after the war and became an American citizen in 1954.
- He studied sculpture and graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto.
- Father of Stuart, Wendy, and actress 'Melanie Wilson (I)' (qv). Grandfather of three.
- In appreciation for his over 500 performances of the highly recognizable Mr. Whipple character, Procter & Gamble provided Wilson with a free lifetime supply of Charmin toilet tissue.
- Served in the Royal Canadian Airforce in WWII.
- Born in England to a vaudeville entertainer and a singer. Moved to Canada, as a child.
