• Dick's father was a POW in WW II and died during the Bataan Death march.
• Dick and his brother, Tom, were born on Governor's Island in New York Harbor. Their father, who was stationed on the military base on that island, moved his pregnant wife there to be close to him.
• Brother-in-law of casting director Marcy Carriker.
• Attended San Jose State University in California.
