BIOGRAPHY:

Biography Deborah Wakeham was born in Nelson, a magical little town in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. The only dangerous things she encountered as a child were low-flying birds and moose crossings. Deborah's skipping to school led to her enrollment in dance classes and her TV debut on "Starlight Stairway" in full hula regalia at the tender age of five. She received scholarships to study with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in Canada and Royal Ballet in London. In 1986 she appeared as a back up dancer on "The New Tom Jones, Show". She became a member of the Beverly Hills Playhouse for 14 years, and went on to appear in over 500 hours of television, as well as ten feature films including Spider-Man.

Deborah wrote for the series "Pacific Blue," co-wrote and starred in the feature "Stranded," and co-wrote and starred in the mini-series "The Riverman," which was filmed on location in Africa. Deborah's latest screenplay "Nothing But Life," was co-authored with India's award-winning director Rajiv Anchal.

Deborah's sharp-edged play "U.N.V.ME," premiered at the Coast Theatre in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times called her a "gifted physical comedian," and compared her satirical writing to that of Woody Allen. Dramalogue called her play a "wonderfully incisive satire of a whole corrupt way of life, deftly and hilariously explored by its author." "U.N.V.ME" won the esteemed L.A. Theater Critics' Choice Award. Dramalogue graced it with Best Writer, Best Actor, and Best Producer awards.

Deborah's company, Lucid Dreams, is producing "The Way Out," a coming-of-age movie that she co-authored with her brother Daryl Wakeham, and developed with Telefilm Canada. "Stinky Town," an animated feature that she also authored, is in development with Telefilm Canada. "La Vida Loca," her romantic comedy, is in development with Corus Entertainment. He company is also producing "Buried" an action adventure in development with Telefilm Canada and "La Vida Loca," which is in development with Corus Entertainment and BC Film.

Deborah is also producing "Night Wings" a tween vampire thriller with United American Entertainment.

Deborah created a two hour TV special, focusing on the search for the largest creatures at risk due to Global Warming. And Lucid recently acquired the book rights to "Sands of Vengeance" written by Antonio Saba and set in 1930's during the Egyptian Revolution.

Her screenplays in various stages of development include: "My Lucky Regret," a family feature based on the true story of the first female horse to win the Kentucky Derby, "The God Project," based on the John Saul novel and the recently completed "Split Decision," an action piece about a daring escape from the horrors of a privately owned prison.

On a lighter note, Deborah created a CD, a Book and a Diary, called "Self Hell: Messages From Her Holy Mess, The Dolly Lila."
