- Founding member of 'John Houseman (I)' (qv)'s Acting Company.
- Won a Drama Desk special adaptation award created especially for him for his condensation of Shakespeare's "Henry IV" at Lincoln Center in 2004.
- Wife is actress/director 'Anne Marie McNaughton' (qv), who directed Dakin's play "The Prince of L.A." at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre in September, 2005.
- A former teacher, he has a degree in theology and studied at the Vatican.
- Divided his time between Los Angeles and San Francisco until 1990, then settled in L.A.
- Has four children.
- Taught drama at Juilliard and is an Emeritus Professor of English from California State University. Among his former students are 'Kevin Kline (I)' (qv), 'Annette Bening' (qv) and 'Patti LuPone' (qv).
- Was artistic director of the Antaeus Company, which he helped found in 1991 for classically-trained actors. He resigned in 2003. Later formed the Andak Stage Company.
