TRIVIA:
- After the war (1947) she and her sister, actress 'Doris Dowling' (qv) moved to Rome, Italy. They were the first Hollywood actresses to work in Italy permanently. Constance returned to the U.S. in 1951 after some filming abroad.
- Had a long, drawn-out affair with married director 'Elia Kazan' (qv) in the late 40s.
- One-time sister-in-law to bandleader 'Artie Shaw' (qv).
- Was a Goldwyn Girl in the early stages of her early 40s career in the movies.
- Worked at the New Theatre School to pay for her acting classes and met and became good friends with 'Shelley Winters' (qv). She and Shelley also worked as usherettes at the Belasco Theater and as cocktail waitresses as Schraffts.
- Took part in the WWII effort by entertaining at the Hollywood Canteen and in USO shows at hospitals.
- 'Cesare Pavese' (qv) committed suicide in 1950 after an unhappy affair with her.
- Foster mother, with 'Ivan Tors' (qv), of Alfred Ndwego of Kenya.
