As a songwriter, he co-composed the song "Palisades Park", a number three hit in the US for singer Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon in 1962.
Had a film made about his life, _Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002)_ (qv), by 'George Clooney' (qv) in his directorial debut with 'Sam Rockwell' (qv) playing the man.
Survived lung cancer.
Claimed to have been a CIA operative.
Daughter 'Della Barris' (qv) died of suspected overdose. She was his only child.
