Before pursing acting, he was a fireman.
Professional boxing referee and judge in the State of California.
Gilliam's granddaughter, 'Hollie Vise' (qv), is one of the top gymnasts in the USA and an Olympic hopeful. In 2001, at age 13, she won the silver medal at the USA Junior National Championships.
Met 'Madeline Kahn' (qv) for the first time while making the film _Paper Moon (1973)_ (qv). She predicted that the two of them would work together again. Within three months, both of them had been cast in _Blazing Saddles (1974)_ (qv).
He was a Golden Gloves referee in Dallas, Texas, before he was an actor.
Was assigned to Engine Co. 39 at the time of his resignation in 1972 from the Dallas Fire Department.
