When he was young, Bradley either wanted to be a professional footballer or an actor. As it turned out he followed the acting route and Bradley attended the Drama Centre London which is said to have been very tough on its students but worthwhile.
James and his family moved from the United Kingdom to Jacksonville, Florida when he was nine-years-old. During his time there, he attended Crown Point Elementary School, then Fletcher Middle School and Madeley High, .
James is a fan of football and annually participates in sporting charity events. When he was younger, he wanted to be either a footballer or an actor. He has competed in many football charity events with his co-stars who play the Knights of the Round Table on the Merlin series.
James first appeared in an episode of Lewis in 2008 and also played the part of Ben in the BBC Three drama Dis/Connected.
He trained at the Drama Centre London. His breakthrough came when he was chosen to play Prince Arthur, who later becomes the legendary King Arthur, in the BBC One fantasy TV series Merlin. He has now starred in Series 1 through 4. In series 4, episode 3 "The Wicked Day", he became King Arthur, previously starring as Prince. It has been announced that there will be a fifth series. Merlin has been a consistent hit series in the U.S. as well, its first series on the broadcast network NBC (National Broadcasting Company) and its second through fourth series on NBC's affiliate basic cable network Syfy.
James and co-star Colin Morgan, who portrays the title character on Merlin, went on an exploration of Arthurian legends for BBC Wales, The Real Merlin & Arthur, in 2009.
