- Attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA as a music performance major. Instrument: clarinet.

- He has three daughters and two sons: Robert, Kristin, Christopher, Jennifer (who later changed her name to Hannah) and Rebecca.
- One of his sons, 'Robbie Vinton' (qv), plays him in the movie _Goodfellas (1990)_ (qv).
- His song "There I've Said It Again" was the last song to hit #1 in the US before the "British Invasion".
- His mother Dorothy also sings and dances in his act.
- Credits his mother Dorothy for inspiring his writing his hit song "My Melody of Love" - with Polish words in the song. This hit record led the way for _"The Bobby Vinton Show" (1975)_ (qv) and for he and his family to be invited to the White House. Bobby was named as an Ambassador to Poland and traveled to Poland to perform.
- Shares his hometown of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, with fellow singers 'Perry Como' (qv) and Joey Powers.
