BIOGRAPHY:

Anne Haney (March 4, 1934 – May 26, 2001) was an American actress, perhaps best known for her roles as social worker Mrs. Sellner in Mrs. Doubtfire, Greta the secretary in Liar Liar, and for her unique, low-octave voice.
Career Haney appeared in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Survivors" as Rishon Uxbridge, and later appeared as a Bajoran arbitrator in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Dax”. She was a regular guest-star during the syndicated run of Mama's Family, playing Alberta Meechum, the nemesis of Thelma Harper. On the TV series Our House she played the fussy neighbor "Virginia Taft." She was also a regular guest-star of L.A. Law, playing Marilyn Travelini, a no-nonsense judge.
She also guest starred on Designing Women, The Golden Palace, Charmed, Boy Meets World, Columbo, ER, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which she played Mary Steenburgen's mother. One of her last appearances was in the Ally McBeal season 4 episode "Reasons to Believe"(aired January 8, 2001).
Personal life Haney was married to John Haney, whom she met at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she had been studying drama, radio, and television. After his death in 1980, she moved with their daughter to Southern California, where she began her acting career.
Haney was very close friends with Robert Reed, best known for his portrayal of Mike Brady on The Brady Bunch. She was the one who informed his daughter of his homosexuality and his battle with HIV. She often got his HIV medication for him under a pseudonym to protect his confidentiality. She was also close to actress Elizabeth Montgomery of Bewitched fame.
Death On May 26, 2001, Haney died of heart failure.[1] She was 67 years old.

  • She was very close friends with 'Robert Reed (I)' (qv). She was the one who informed his daughter of his homosexuality and his illness. She also got his medication for him under his pseudonym.
