Andrew Hill Newman and Joshua Malina first met as teenagers growing up in Westchester County, New York. They re-met many years later across a poker table in Hollywood and have been taking each other's money on Thursday nights ever since. It was at this poker table that the concept for "Celebrity Poker Showdown" was born. Andrew and Josh, teamed with Marcia Mulé and Bryan Scott of Picture This Television, have executive produced "Celebrity Poker Showdown" since its inception.
After spending the 80s as an actor in New York City, Andrew moved west where he added writing and producing to his extensive acting resume. His first book, "What Every Uncle Should Know," was published in 1992 by Avon Books. Teamed with Matthew Perry, he wrote and sold two TV pilots and a feature film script. Teamed with Hank Azaria, he wrote and produced a short film, "Nobody's Perfect," which won Best Short Film at the 2004 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. On his own, Andrew contributed sketches to NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and Fox's "Sunday Comics," and wrote on the staff of the short-lived UPN sitcom "Guys Like Us." He produced and wrote three series for Nickelodeon: "The Amanda Show," "All That," and "Drake & Josh." As an actor, Andrew has appeared in seven feature films, two Broadway shows, three Off-Broadway shows, and guest-starred in fifty episodes of over three dozen different television series.
