BIOGRAPHY:

Talented actress, dancer and singer with a long history on Broadway, and in Hollywood, and television, Ms. McLerie apparently decided to retire in 1993. She is married to actor George Gaynes.

TRIVIA:

Best known character film role was in _They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969)_ (qv) in which she plays 'Red Buttons' (qv)' marathon dance partner who goes "squirrelly" and freaks out thinking there are bugs all over her.
Guest-starred on husband, 'George Gaynes' (qv)'s TV series _"Punky Brewster" (1984)_ (qv) as his love interest.
Daughter-in-law of 'Iya Abdy' (qv).
On Broadway in the late 40s, she performed in "On the Town" and "Bonanza Bound" written and composed by then-husband 'Adolph Green' (qv). She divorced Green in May of 1953 and married actor 'George Gaynes' (qv) in December of that year. They have been together over 50 years.
Is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
