BIOGRAPHY: Most will remember Sues as 'Uncle Al the Kiddies Pal' from "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In". He was born Alan Grigsby Sues on March 7, 1926 in Ross, California.
TRIVIA:
- He and a younger brother were brought up in and around San Francisco.
- Remembered for his campy "Peter Pan" on the peanut butter TV commercial.
- Performed at such clubs as the Reuben Bleu and Blue Angel (both in Manhattan) during his salad days. Also performed comedy partnered with such funny guys as 'Julius Monk' (qv), among others, as well as performing solo.
- Studied at the Pasadena Playhouse before making his Broadway debut in the original production of "Tea and Sympathy" in 1953.
- Was spotted in the off-Broadway musical revue "The Mad Show" in 1966, and eventually signed for "Laugh-In".
- Alan Grigsby Sues, b 7 Mar 1926 in California, was the son of Melvin G Sues (1901-1990)and Alice Murray (1902-1995). They had two sons, Alan and John Murray Sues, b. 14 Sep 1931 CA d. 11 Apr 2008 CT.
