His father is Michael Hough, a noted Canadian landscape architect, while his mother was a producer-director of medical videos.
Speaks fluent French, which he learned while an exchange student in Quebec. He also won the Athl�te de l'Ann�e prize for leading the Rimouski High School basketball team to victory.
Met his wife while acting in a play in London with her best friend, who refused to introduce them because of his rakish reputation. Destiny intervened, and Marina was there when he came to pick up the keys to sublet her friend's apartment. He would not leave until he had ascertained her whereabouts the next evening. He showed up at her date, and they have been together ever since.
