He had auditioned for for the roles of Ed (when Ed was written to have some dialogue), Zazu and Pumbaa (by singing Hakuna Matata in a Queen's English accent) in _The Lion King (1994)_ (qv). He was asked to audition for the role of Pumbaa by lyricist 'Tim Rice (I)' (qv), who got the idea for the lyrics of the song "Hakuna Matata" by watching _"Bottom" (1991)_ (qv).
Is the second oldest of four siblings.
Has three daughters: Eleanor, Beatrice and 'Freya Edmondson' (qv).
Met best friend and comedy partner 'Rik Mayall' (qv) at Manchester University in 1975.
