| Survivor's John Talks About Turning Against Galu and the Alliances That Could Have Saved Him (TVGuide) - 23 hours ago In the world of Survivor, it's not about intelligence, strength or good looks, it's about how well you play the game. He may be a rocket scientist, but 25-year-old John Fincher's intelligence and complex strategy still wasn't enough to protect him from his decision to vote out fellow Galu, Laura, and lose his tribe's trust. John talked with TVGuide.com about his decision to turn against Laura and Galu, the Foa Foa member he almost convinced to flip and the many things he would have done differently on the island... | Joanna Krupa on PETA Ad Criticism: God Would Disagree with Catholic League (TVGuide) - 23 hours ago Joanna Krupa came under fire this week after unveiling a provocative new PETA ad — in which she wears only a cross — deemed "totally inappropriate" and exploitative by the Catholic League. The outrage is exactly what the Dancing with the Stars alum expected and wanted, she tells TVGuide.com, because controversy is "the only way" to alert others to a cause. "Sometimes I am ashamed of being a human being because of what we created and how we hurt the defenseless and less fortunate," Krupa says. "That is shocking and despicable to me. All I've done is to raise awareness through a controversial ad that I am truly proud of." See what else Krupa has to say about the criticism, what positive reaction she's received and her plans for future ads. Other Links From TVGuide.com |

| And now, a commercial you won't forget (no matter how hard you try) (TVSquad) - 23 hours ago First off, I want to apologize for posting this commercial, because once you see it, you won't forget it. And I don't mean in a good way. It's from Science World in Canada, and it shows grandmothers in a way you never, ever want to see a grandmother. Enjoy! [via Adfreak]

| Whoopi Goldberg says she's "bored" with the Tiger Woods story (TVSquad) - 1 day ago I often find Barbara Walters to ramble a little too much on The View, but she was absolutely right in what she said to Whoopi Goldberg the other day. Whoopi faked walking off the show because the panel was talking about the Tiger Woods controversy, saying she was "bored" with it (followed of course by clapping from the audience) and that what happened with Woods "doesn't put food on my table." Walters had an answer for that. Whoopi, it's called "Hot Topics" for a reason.

| Jersey Shore: Series Premiere - open thread (TVSquad) - 1 day ago Joel already posted about the controversy surrounding the new MTV reality show Jersey Shore. Is it insulting to Italians? To people who live in New Jersey? To anyone with good taste? I think I'm more offended that we have yet another lame show about young people living in a house (though the use of the word "Guido" is bizarre to me - I'm from a huge Italian family and I've never heard anyone use that term - and equating being Italian with tanning and the use of hair gel). It premiered last night. What did you think? Here's the episode if you missed it.

Men of a Certain Age -- An early look (TVSquad) - 1 day ago![]() If you ever watched Everybody Loves Raymond -- or currently watch the reruns -- you might wonder what would Raymond become after a while. What would happen if he didn't have Deborah yelling at him and his family keeping him from being a self-indulgent slob who only thought of himself. Men of a Certain Age shows you the dark side of Raymond, only here Ray Romano is called Joe. Joe and his college buddies, Owen and Terry, are on the wrong side of 40 and they know it. The TV Squad Podcast: Surprising shows, decade-end lists, and the Commenter of the Week! (TVSquad) - 1 day ago It's our first four-way panel this week, as Jason Hughes, Kona Gallagher and Allison Waldman join me to talk about some of the goings on in TV this week:
Run time is 1:01:38 You can listen to the podcast below, or download from here or by subscribing to our RSS podcast feed. It is also available via iTunes. Feel free to leave us feedback in the comments or drop us a line at tvsquadpodcast [at] gmail [dot] com. As usual, the music at the beginning and end of the podcast is "Life" by Justin Trawick. Though I had so much fun adding the George Takei ID to the mix, I added another small surprise at the top of this 'cast, a call-back to an interview I did a few years ago. Hope you enjoy it.

| Here's take #510 from last night's 30 Rock (TVSquad) - 1 day ago One of the funnier moments from last night's 30 Rock was Pete trying to help Liz create an opening for Dealbreakers. We see her trying to look sexy, trying to look sassy, and trying to wave like a normal human being. Also note what happens when she (along with Kenneth and Jack) gets it front of the HD cameras. (I love that the director on the board is "Alan Smithee" - even Pete doesn't want to take credit for this disaster.) [Watch clips and episodes of 30 Rock and other shows at SlashControl.]

Exclusive Interview with 'Survivor: Samoa' Contestant John Fincher (BuddyTV) - 1 day ago Last night on Survivor: Samoa, John Fincher, the 25 year old rocket scientist from Los Angeles, California, got a nasty surprise when his platinum Russell Alliance card was declined. Before the season, Jeff Probst speculated that John was a poser, just talking a big game. Indeed, David entered Survivor: Samoa relatively unfamiliar with the series but armed with plenty of self-confidence, a stylish shirt and a keen knowledge of physics. |
| Coolest Moments: Surprises from Glee, Meredith Baxter, FlashForward and More! (TVGuide) - 1 day ago This week, television surprised and moved us. Meredith Baxter announced that she is gay. Sons of Anarchy shifted the focus abruptly from revenge to deep sorrow. And House admitted that without Wilson, he is truly alone. Also: Nathan Petrelli is dead and the ladies of Eastwick are witches. (OK, so not everything was a surprise.) Welcome to the Coolest Moments (aka Top Moments): Shock and Aw Edition. James Franco's General Hospital bit is performance art? (TVSquad) - 1 day ago If you had any doubt before, James Franco is taking his guest appearance on General Hospital very seriously. This isn't a stunt or a grab for attention, as some have speculated. It's not even a challenge to see if he could dip into the soap opera world and keep up with the pace and volume of a TV convention that's extremely demanding (250+ episodes a year without reruns). Well, James has written about his goals in the Wall Street Journal and for him, General Hospital is performance art.I'm sure I'm simplifying what he's writing about because I'm not savvy about the form, but in his own words, he wrote, "I took the plunge and experimented with the form myself when I signed on to appear on 20 episodes of General Hospital as the bad-boy artist." Survivor Samoa: Chickens and Turkeys (BuddyTV) - 1 day ago I like Jaison but he's a sucker. It never makes sense to me why dominant alliances try so hard to keep individuals on weaker alliances from winning immunity. Sure, I understand going all out to win an immunity challenge. But over the seasons we've seen people give up their seats at banquet tables in order to compete for immunity, and now auction away all of their money for an advantage in a challenge. |

'Smallville' Fan Columnist: The Key to the Kandorians' Power? (BuddyTV) - 1 day ago It's Smallville Fan Columnist, Trish Neale asking, is the future of Smallville coming together? If you're interested in becoming a fan columnist, click here. Am I the only one who found the future on Smallville perplexing? Maybe I am alone, but I am not entirely comprehending the whole 'Kandorians Regain Powers Through Solar Tower' headline the writers sold during "Pandora." The episode aired two whole weeks ago and even now certain pieces of the puzzle are not melding together for me--which is significant, since the over-arcing storyline this season revolves around the Kandorians' quest for power and that freaky tower. |
Another werewolf show for Fox? (TVSquad) - 1 day ago It's hard to disparage Fox for wanting to get into the werewolf business after the huge - and soul crushing - financial success of the lycanthrope-heavy New Moon. But the network that canceled Dollhouse, Firefly and, amusingly, Werewolf might be stretching America's love affair with fanged furries to its breaking point. Last year, we reported that Fox was eyeing Bitches, about a pack of urban shewolves. Now comes news that it's developing a second werewolf show called Howl, from Dreamworks TV. Variety says that Howl is a family drama about warring werewolf clans in a small Alaska town. It sounds like Fox is looking to grab some of that Team Jacob money with its own hairy version of The Vampire Diaries. Continue reading Another werewolf show for Fox?

'Bones' Fan Columnist: Punky Pong, Anyone? (BuddyTV) - 1 day ago Nicole Bessette, our Bones Fan Columnist, recaps "The Gamer in the Grease." If you're interested in becoming a Fan Columnist click here. It sure has seemed like forever since there was a new Bones episode on- 14 days to be exact, but, I mean, who's counting? So, like all of you, I was really excited to see this new episode, "The Gamer in the Grease," but I must admit that I was terribly disappointed by it. The major reason why? Well, no super cute Booth and Bones moments, of course. But, I guess I do have to give this episode some props. It definitely gets my vote for the most disgusting body found yet. Just how disgusting is it, you might ask? Well, basically, a body is found in a tank of grease, and when Booth and Bones go to fish it out, the skin falls off and the internal organs fall out. I mean, you could say that it has decomposed just a bit. |
Kristin Chenoweth's Christmas movie and Promises, Promises, too (TVSquad) - 1 day ago![]() Remember back in May when I wrote about Kristin Chenoweth making a Fa La La La La Lifetime TV movie for Christmas? Well, I did, and now the picture is upon us. The 12 Men of Christmas, premieres Saturday, December 5 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime. So on Saturday night, instead of going to a holiday party or shopping for gifts, gather around the TV and watch Kristin as E.J. Baxter, a New York publicist who comes up with the idea of a hunk calendar using the men of Montana. She goes west to find her twelve Montana men, and -- wouldn't you know it? -- she falls in love with one of the guys. Josh Hopkins from Swingtown. How bad could that be? So You Think You Can Dance Guest Columnist: SOLOng, Farewell! (BuddyTV) - 1 day ago [To better cover the technical talents of season 6, we've brought on Dr. Goddess, a guest columnist with decades of dance experience. She will share her dance-pertise in a weekly column recapping and reviewing So You Think You Can Dance with an eye on technique.]Parting is such sweet sorrow and the So You Think You Can Dance results show is always bittersweet. On the one hand, someone is going home. On the other, we get to see a wonderful opening number and great guest performers onstage. This week, I realized that Tyce Diorio is a hit-or-miss type of choreographer. Rarely does there seem to be room for contemplation with his numbers. Either he knocks it out the park or a piece is an epic fail. This time, his opening number was a "blah" epic fail, wherein the dancers looked as though they were simultaneously dancing for their lives in one chaotic mess or practicing random power moves and poses for an appearance in Dance Spirit magazine. The all-black costuming to a Billy Joel number did not help one bit. Bless your heart, Tyce. You are due for a great one. |
