| Runway's Gordana: I Knew I Would Get Kicked Off Regardless of What I Made (TVGuide) - 15 minutes ago After last week's museum-inspired challenge, many Project Runway fans were not too thrilled that the judges eliminated Gordana Gehlhausen even though her dress was believed to be one of the best designs on the catwalk. The 45-year-old designer told TVGuide.com that no matter what she made, she knew she wasn't going to Bryant Park "because that's how it was through the whole show for me." Project Runway Rundown: Did Gordana deserve to go? Find out what she had to say about Tim Gunn's initial expression toward her gown, how she used a microwave to create the garment's texture and why she hopes to inspire others. 5 reasons why Project Runway may have lost its style Watch the interview after the jump. | Did Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show go too far? (TVSquad) - 40 minutes ago Last night FOX aired Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show, and they're getting a little heat about it today. They re-enacted a scene from a Family Guy episode that made fun of deaf actress Marlee Matlin. Then they took it a step further and had Alex Borstein imitate Matlin singing a pop song. No worries though, since Matlin was there to defend herself. Me? I thought it was funny.

Brilliant, dramatic, funny, even exhilarating. Here's a behind the scenes look at the episode, including interviews with Matthew Weiner and the cast.

The voice of Oprah rules over all 'Life' on Earth (TVSquad) - 2 hours ago Oprah Winfrey is all over the news these days as she fires up her new network and considers moving her talk show from Chicago to Los Angeles. Now, we get to listen to her narrate the epic BBC nature series, Life. Subtitled by the BBC with, "The Definitive Exploration of the Adaptability and Diversity of Life on Earth," the eleven-part series examines evolution and the behaviors that animals devised to live, thrive and survive. Discovery Channel is bringing it your way in March after Oprah vocalizes a bit. I know the BBC has done this sort of thing before. In fact, no one does it better. But this time around, they're using state-of-the-art high-definition filming techniques. But why is Oprah necessary? I have nothing particularly against the woman. Despite her massive media pull, I manage to more or less steer clear of her estrogen fest. But, the BBC production comes pre-narrated with world-famous naturalist, Sir David Attenborough. Is over-dubbing necessary? Continue reading The voice of Oprah rules over all 'Life' on Earth

| This is my favorite regular segment on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (TVSquad) - 3 hours ago I mentioned the other day the regular segments that Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has, from "Slow-Jamming The News" to "Real Housewives of Late Night." But this is my favorite regular bit he does, Thank You Notes, where he catches up on thank you notes that he's been meaning to write. It's clever (though it still reminds me of something Craig Kilborn used to do). [Watch clips and episodes of Late Night and other shows at SlashControl.]

Six Mad Men characters who are in limbo after the finale (TVSquad) - 3 hours ago![]() That was some Mad Men finale, wasn't it? If you haven't seen it yet, please stop reading now, because there was just too much going on for me not to just launch into some discussion. OK, I'll wait until after the jump to really get into things. But, suffice to say, the end of season three left some characters going down a pretty well-determined path, but others have entered a sort of limbo state, where we don't quite know what their roles will be in season four. The Next Iron Chef: Umami (Deliciousness) - open thread (TVSquad) - 4 hours ago The only things I know about umami comes from those Kikkoman commecials, the ones that talk about umami being the fifth taste (after sweet, salty, sour, and bitter). Last night's Next Iron Chef was all about that, and they even had Iron Chef Morimoto as a judge. What did you think? The show is down to its final three contestants. Can you picture one of them standing next to other Iron Chefs like Morimoto, Flay, Cora, Batali, and Symon in Kitchen Stadium?

Fact or Fiction: Big Bang, Brothers & Sisters and CSI (TVSquad) - 4 hours ago![]() Welcome to our new feature, TV Squad readers. How well do you know what you think you know about television? Play our little trivia game, Fact or Fiction. We'll state the premise, then tell you the reality, i.e. the fact or the fiction. By the way, if you have ideas for Fact or Fiction, or questions you'd like us to figure out, share with us in the comments. Fact or Fiction: When Chuck Lorre originally created The Big Bang Theory, the boys were dominated by a nasty neighbor named Katie. Fact! Chuck Lorre told Watch magazine's Jim Colluci that a year before The Big Bang Theory was picked up by CBS, the first pilot had a female character named Katie. She manipulated the guys. "It was like shooting fish in a barrel. It didn't work," Johnny Galecki told Colluci. The problem was that Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Howard were and are essentially innocents and without maliciousness. The idea of a woman taking advantage of their innocence was not only mean, it wasn't funny. The writers went back to the drawing board -- so to speak -- and, thus, the character of sweet, gentle Penny was born. Continue reading Fact or Fiction: Big Bang, Brothers & Sisters and CSI

Review: The Venture Bros. - Return to Malice (TVSquad) - 5 hours ago![]() (S04E04) It's enough to make you stop believing when tears come fast and furious, in a town called Malice. Yeah. I totally just made that up. Right now. Free words of wisdom, from me to you. This episode wasn't spectacular for the purposes of laughing-out-loud. It was funny in a few moments, yes, but I spent most of the twenty-some minutes resting my chin on my fist, brow furrowed with concern. All the characters are going through some heavy stuff right now, and that inner turmoil, dealing with loss and identity and love, came bubbling to the surface in this episode. Doing so, again, isn't much of a gut-buster, but it makes for beautiful character development. Can you tell I have faith in this show? Maybe a little too much. NCIS's latest casting coup... the Secretary of the Navy (TVSquad) - 6 hours ago The 'N' in NCIS stands for Naval. In case you didn't know that, I thought I'd tell you upfront, so that maybe the rest of this news will make sense. TV Guide has reported that Ray Mabus, the U.S. Secretary of the Navy is appearing on NCIS. Yes, that's right, the real United States Secretary of the Navy is going to guest on America's most watched drama series. Oh, one more thing. He's not playing the Secretary of the Navy. He's playing an NCIS agent. So until we get more information, it seems that Secretary Mabus simply has a desire to act and CBS is giving him a chance to show his stuff. Or maybe he's a really big fan of NCIS (he wouldn't be alone). Continue reading NCIS's latest casting coup... the Secretary of the Navy

Ironically-named Cartoon Network picks up live action shows (TVSquad) - 6 hours ago Cartoon Network is getting deeper into the live action series game.Yes, I know that's like Fox Sports getting into the daytime soap opera business, but you can't get too upset about the network inappropriate name game. Remember when Bravo was the fine arts network? I rest my case. As for Cartoon Network's new non-animated shows, a release from the network says Tower Prep and Unnatural History are headed our way in January, 2010. According to the network, Tower Prep is "an action thriller telling the story of rebellious teen, Ian (Drew Van Acker), who wakes up one morning to find himself trapped at a mysterious prep school." In other words, it's a teenage remake of The Prisoner -- the original 1960s version -- or "Jim Henson's The Prisoner Babies." Paul Mooney's TV history from Black Is the New White (TVSquad) - 7 hours ago Paul Mooney is well known to stand-up comedians for his own work and for writing for his longtime friend, Richard Pryor. Outside of that, though, his name recognition gets a little fuzzier. So for TV comedy fans, Mooney's new memoir, Black Is the New White, provides some great behind-the-scenes moments they should probably know. There are a lot of heartfelt stories about Richard Pryor and Mooney's own personal life, but there is a lot of fun TV trivia, as well. Mooney talks about getting forced onstage by a couple of friends to do his first solo stand-up spot in the early 60s in San Francisco. Mooney is drunk and nervous, and winds up doing the act of a comic named Ronnie Schell, who would later co-star with Jim Nabors on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. Mooney admits whenever he catches the show in reruns, he feels a little guilty. Readers also get to see Mooney and Pryor trying to write for Sanford and Son, a gig that only lasted a couple of episodes. Predictably, they were a bit too explosive for network TV. Mooney talks about Pryor's meltdown on The Richard Pryor Show (which featured future stars like Robin Williams, Sandra Bernhard, and John Witherspoon), territory that has been covered before, but not from the perspective of a friend like Mooney. And Mooney devotes a bit of time to In Living Color, which adopted his concept for Homey the Clown and the catch phrase, "Homey don't play that." Earlier in his career, Mooney was also a dancer on a show called Dance Party, a sort of west coast version of American Bandstand. It would be interesting to see those old tapes. Curb Your Enthusiasm will be on TV Guide and TV Land (TVSquad) - 8 hours ago Curb Your Enthusiasm reruns are coming to basic cable. First they will be shown on the TV Guide Channel next year (doesn't everybody get that channel? I thought it was just a guide to what's on television. They have shows?) and then TV Land in 2013. Any event that brings Larry David's sense of humor to the masses can only be a good thing (Who had the idea for the humor in awkward situations first, Larry or Ricky Gervais?).Mind you, the show's language is somewhat racy for basic cable. There will be some bleeping here and there. At least there's no prevalent nudity in any episode that I recall. There is some adult subject matter, but nothing basic cable hasn't seen before. Hey, if The Sopranos can make it to basic cable then Larry David should have no problem. Given Susie Essman's vocabulary on the series, she may have every third word bleeped. That could possibly make her lines even funnier.
