Australia’s only national, commercial free public TV broadcaster with a diverse mix of programs including the best of Australian and international documentaries, cutting edge comedy, drama, entertainment, sport, news and current affairs and programs for kids of all ages. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation was launched on 5 November 1956, and is available nationally. At midday on 8 February 2008 ABC TV was rebranded as ABC1. As of August 2009, ABC1 has a 19.1% audience share.
