Movie (2006)

On September, 11th 2001, after the terrorist attack to the World Trade Center, the building collapses over the rescue team from the Port Authority Police Department. Will Jimeno and his sergeant John McLoughlin are found alive trapped under the wreckage while the rescue teams fight to save them.

Due to her infamous quote that "America is responsible in some way" for the 9/11 attacks, Maggie Gyllenhaal personally offered to withdraw from the project to Officer William Jimeno and his wife Allison Jimeno. They both declined and gave their blessing for Gyllenhaal to take the role.
Nicolas Cage was the first actor to be given the script. Producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher circulated the Andrea Berloff's screenplay over to Creative Artists Agency, where it was given to Oliver Stone and Cage.
Movie Goof (anachronisms): In scenes outside the Port Authority Bus Terminal, concrete planters are clearly visible surrounding the building. The planters were added to the bus terminal after the September 11th attacks.
Movie Goof (anachronisms): During an establishing shot at the beginning of the film, a Honda Element can easily be seen driving past an intersection. This car was introduced in 2003, so there couldn't have been one present in New York in 2001.
