• When the movie was filmed in the winter of 1993-1994, there was already at least a meter of snow on the ground in Harvard Square and in all of Boston. However, because the actual snow did not look "real" enough to be filmed, it was all cleared away and replaced with artificial snow.
• Movie Goof (factual errors): After Simon is evicted from the library basement, Monty says he needs a home. Simon replies that he had a home, "with 17 bathrooms and 8 miles of books". Since he is penniless, presumably he is referring to the library he left. But Harvard's Widener Library has nearly 60 miles of books, not 8.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Wildler is on the toilet, and Jeff walks in, it is obvious that he is wearing underpants.
• The graduation scenes were filmed at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The large building in front of the graduates is Foellinger Auditorium, made up to look like a Harvard building. Many of the graduates are UIUC students.
