What a Girl Wants

"Trying to fit in. Born to stand out."

An American girl, Daphne, heads to Europe in search of the father she's never met. But instead of finding a British version of her bohemian mother, she learns the love of her mom's life is an uptight politician. The only problem now is that her long-lost dad is engaged to a fiercely territorial social climber with a daughter who makes Daphne's life miserable.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): At the New Jersey wedding in the beginning of the film, during the father-daughter dance, there is a shot of the bride's back where you see that only about 5 out of the 30 buttons on her dress are actually buttoned.
  • This film opened during war with Iraq which made Warner Bros. change the poster art for the film. Because the original artwork showed Amanda Bynes displaying a peace symbol, the artwork was changed so that the peace symbol was airbrushed out. The studio did not want anyone to think the artwork was a war protest.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Daphne climbs the wall of her father's house, the guidebook she was holding disappears. When she arrives at the wall it's in her hands and when she starts climbing, the book is gone.
  • Amanda Bynes said in the commentary that the makeup team spent hours putting braces on her for the short scene of Daphne's 15th birthday, in which the braces aren't even noticeable.
