Wag The Dog is strongly emotional political satire about the manipulation of media and the political circumstances of the ages. During a presidential race the President has an affair with a school teacher and to avoid media exploitation the Presidents advisor helps him to stage a fake war in Albania.

The scene in which shoes laced together are hanging from telephone and electric wires was shot on East Capitol Street a few blocks behind the U.S. Capitol. The production crew left several pairs of shoes behind and they remained hanging on the wires for years.
Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When the limo pulls out of the Hay-Adams Hotel and passes the Washington Monument, a camera is reflected in the car window.
Movie Goof (miscellaneous): At the end of the film, when the Secret Service escorts Stanley to his car, one of the men repeatedly tries to open the car door, but it has been accidentally locked.
Movie Goof (miscellaneous): While Conrad and Winifred are on the airport to fly to L.A., on the TV screen during the news report, Santa Fe is written Sante Fe.
