An attractive but depressed young man moves back in with his parents following a recent heartbreak. An aspiring photographer, Leonard works part-time at his father's dry-cleaners. One night Leonard looks out his bedroom window and notices a ravishing young woman who recently moved into an apartment in his family's building, paid for by the wealthy married man she's seeing.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Loosely based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's 1848 short story White Nights.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When Leonard leaves the New Years Eve party to meet up with Michelle, he picks up his coat on the rack near the door and you can clearly see that he drops it to the floor rather than holding it(perhaps the actor was expecting the director to cut at this point). In the next shot, he is outside the apartment door holding the coat in his hands.
Movie Goof (continuity error): After Leonard drops his suitcase out the window it isn't there when he goes downstairs to meet up with Michelle.
The movie is set around Brighton Beach and features Gwyneth Paltrow whose mother Blythe Danner starred in the movie Brighton Beach Memoirs.
