Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Andy Sidaris, as "TV Director", is essentially playing himself. He was a frequent director of ABC Sports, including the Superbowl, and is referred to by other characters as "Andy".
  • The pickpocket is played by Walter Pidgeon who co-starred in Harry in Your Pocket (1973), a film about pickpockets.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): Near the end of the movie, Sgt Button and Capt Holly are stalking the sniper in the tower where he is hiding. Visibility is almost nil because of darkness and the smoke from a smoke grenade, yet the two officers are wearing sunglasses. All this would have made it near impossible for them to see the sniper, yet Holly spots him immediately and shoots him.
  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): After maintenance man Brock Peters is struck in the face by the assassin with a rifle butt and falls 60 feet to his death, Charlton Heston's character tells other policemen that Brock was "butt stroked" off the ladder. This is not correct military or police jargon. The only people who were "butt stroked" were poor Heston, who had to keep a straight face while he said it; poor Brock, who supposedly suffered the indignity; and the producers, who paid some expert to advise them and left the line in the movie.
