Movie (1982)

The Pink Panther diamond is stolen once again from Lugash and the authorities call in Chief Inspector Clouseau from France. His plane disappears en-route. This time, famous French TV reporter Marie Jouvet sets out to solve the mystery and starts to interview everybody connected to Clouseau.

If Peter Sellers had not passed way, then this film would not have been made (at least at around this time). The next intended Pink Panther film that was being planned prior to Sellers' passing was entitled Romance of the Pink Panther.
This film is dedicated to Peter Sellers and was marketed as a tribute to him. The dedication states: To "Peter . . . the one and only Inspector Clouseau."
Movie Goof (continuity error): In this movie Sir Charles is married to Simone the character from the first Pink Panther movie. But in the Return of the Pink Panther (the third movie) Sir Charles was married to Claudine.
In spite of the screenplay credits for Frank Waldman and Tom Waldman, the two actually contributed nothing to the script. Their credit was solely as a result of usage of the deleted scenes from The Pink Panther Strikes Again (which the latter made some uncredited contributions to).
