Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • The hanten (Japanese style jacket) that Jeff Bridges wears while "going on vacation" says "kotobuki" in Japanese, which ironically means long life.
  • Brendan Fletcher was cast for the role of Dickens before Terry Gilliam had ever met him. As said in an interview, he was cast after Terry was so incredibly impressed with his performance he saw on a tape sent to him.
  • In the full frame of the theatrical projection of the film, during the scene where Jeff Bridges, Jennifer Tilly and Jodelle Ferland are arguing about going to Jutland, there is a Monty Pythons' record visible on the floor among his collection of vinyls.
  • The mailbox at the house in the country bears the name "M. Cullin", which is a reference to the author of the book the film is based on, Mitch Cullin. He also has a small cameo on the bus.
