"It's happening so fast."

Tracy is a normal 13-year-old girl trying to make it in school. After befriending a new girl at school, Evie; Tracy's world is turned upside down when Evie introduces Tracy to a world of sex, drugs and cash. But it isn't long before Tracy's new world and attitude finally takes a toll on her, her family, and old friends.

  • The tongue stud that Nikki Reed wore in the film was real, but Evan Rachel Wood's was not. It was made like a suction cup, but occasionally would fall off. Because of this, she ended up accidentally swallowing a few of them by the time the movie had finished filming.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): The contents of Tracy's garbage can when she throws out her socks at the beginning of the film.
  • Teenage singer/songwriter Katy Rose wrote the song "Lemon" especially for Thirteen after reading an article about the movie in the paper. "Lemon" is played during the credits, while another Katy song, "Overdrive" is in the film.
  • Many of the clothes, furniture and make-up used in the film belonged to the actual cast.
