• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When David pays one dollar for the coffee at Arby's, the charge is 80 cents, yet the cashier only gives him a dime back in change.
• Despite Paramount Pictures suggesting that the production be shot in Canada, to substitute for Chicago, Gore Verbinski and Nicolas Cage both insisted that the film be shot in Chicago for authenticity.
• Movie Goof (errors in geography): The parade scene at the very end is supposed to be taking place in New York, but if you look at the firefighters' uniforms and the emblem on the firetruck, they are clearly from the Chicago Fire Department.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): When David is talking to his father, after being hit by a Wendy's Frosty, the stain on his collar changes throughout their conversation.
