  • Movie Goof (factual errors): "Psst! Feind hört mit" meaning "Shh! Enemy is listening" appears in a scene on a wall. Then it changes to incorrect "Psst! Feine hört mit". Then it changes to the correct first version again.
  • The film includes a very touching scene with the execution of Private Eddie Slovik, the only case of a soldier execution in US Arm Forces during World War Two. In 1960, Frank Sinatra intended to produce a film based on the same story with a screenplay by Albert Maltz, one of the blacklisted in the infamous Hollywood Ten. But Sinatra was advised against it, because he himself could be suspected of communism, and finally deleted the project. Carl Foreman, who abandoned the United States in 1952 cause he was been investigated for communist activities, decided to use in his film the case of Private Slovik and behind the scene we can hear the song "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in the voice of... Frank Sinatra. The intention was evident, for those who wanted to understand it.
