• Movie Goof (continuity error): When Leatherface and Lefty fight, Lefty gets up onto the big table, but then Leatherface attacks him, causing Lefty to fall backwards onto the table. As Lefty falls backwards, he knocks the tall trophy that Cook won earlier on in the film, off of the table. But in the next shot the trophy stands back up, proudly on the table again.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): A sign's wooden support gets shot at the beginning, but you can see where the already weakened point is in the support, before it gets "shot."
• Throughout the film, many references are made to the "Red River Rivalry" or "Red River Shootout" in regards to the football game going on during the film. This was not invented for the film. As any avid college football fan can tell you, the "Red River Rivalry" is the common name for the animosity between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. The film takes place during OU vs. Texas weekend.
• Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): After Lefty starts up the big chainsaw at the store, he lifts up the saw and swings it around. As he does this, the film crew is visible in the reflection of his dark sunglasses.
