Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Ford-Lincoln-Mercury and the postal carrier from California (Clark) are about to be executed, and Ford introduces himself, we flash to a distance shot, in which we see Clark remove his hat. We then flash to a closeup, and Clark removes his hat again.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): When the Postman finds the old Zippo that was owned by the now deceased postman, he flicks the flint, and is surprised to find that it lights. Seeing as how that the deceased postman is now a skeleton, he has been there for quite a while. The Zippo fuel (naphtha) evaporates quite quickly, and after a few days the lighter will be useless unless he came across a bottle of naphtha.
  • Another Kevin Costner film reference: Costner's character being asked for his "seed," as in Waterworld.
  • Tom Petty mentioned back in 1982 while filming the video for his song "You Got Lucky" (a post apocalyptic themed story) he wanted to do a small part in a futuristic movie. He said he wanted to portray a post war character, which he finally did in this movie.
