The Killer Inside Me

Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford is a pillar of the community in his small west Texas town, patient and apparently thoughtful. Some people think he is a little slow and maybe boring, but that is the worst they say about him. But then nobody knows about what Lou calls his "sickness": he is a brilliant, but disturbed sociopathic sadist.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

→ View All
  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): In the chase scene where Lou is chasing the bum through the streets to the town square, they pass a tanker truck with a modern (mid-80s) cab.
  • Andrew Dominik had written a highly stylized screenplay for the movie in 2003, and was at one point considered to direct it. Not long afterward in 2004, Dominik would accidentally stumble across an obscure western epic novel by Ron Hansen in an Australian bookstore, which he later adapted as The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): In the scene when he burns the drunks hand, red and blue modern-style police lights can be seen flashing in the distance, probably from blocking traffic during filming.
  • As previously mentioned above, Andrew Dominik was set to direct, and had Tom Cruise lined up to play Lou Ford. When Cruise dropped out, Dominik left the project - he felt he needed a big star actor to carry such a complex and disturbing film.
