• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Allegra is separating eggs for the flan, she puts the first couple of yolks in the bowl with the whites, defeating the purpose of separating them. She is then seen taking the yolks out with the egg shell as she does this. (The actors had a limited number of takes available and Maggie Grace was forced to do this so she would not waste a take.)
• Movie Goof (errors in geography): Jocelyn says she looks for a book at bookstores on State Street; there is no State Street in Sacramento or its suburbs.
• The role of the SA Spurs obsessed character dean was cast to Marc Blucas who played college basketball with the star player Tim Duncan. This was in the novel and not rewritten for Marc.
• If you look closely at the coffee cups during the first meeting at Starbucks you can see the characters names written on the cups. The most obvious is Prudie's.
