• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Karen is looking up information about Toshio on the internet, the search engine option "images" on The Daily News Japan website is spelled "imaegs". Also, "option" is supposed to be capitalized like "View", "Tool", and "Help" are. "Tool" is also meant to be "Tools".
• According to the DVD Commentaries and Featurettes, the house in The Grudge was built completely on a sound stage. It was based almost entirely on the house in Ju-on (2002). It was built like a normal house, the 'house set' had two floors so that cuts did not have to be made when a character was walking upstairs. However, the attic was built separately from the house to allow for more room when filming.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Karen is in the shower, after the hand comes out of her head, she spins around in the shower stall and you can see the black tube top/strapless bra she is wearing.
• The open-mouth gasping sound of the ghosts is made by director Takashi Shimizu.
