Movie Goof (errors in geography): The deer hunted in Pennsylvania are white tail deer. The animal in the movie is a Red Stag.
Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Michael repeatedly refers to Nick as "Nicholas", but the military M.D. who checks on Nick when hospitalized in Saigon states that his real name is "Nikanor".
In the commentary for the Special Edition DVD release (as of 2005, only available in the UK, region 2 encoded), director Michael Cimino reveals that Nick is the father of Angela's baby. This was a highly debated issue by fans of the film that was - until now - a mystery.
