• The outdoor shots of Spenser Academy were made at Bishop's University, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, filmed in the fall of 2005. The director had to compromise on many of the shots as it rained for much of the duration of filming.
• According to the DVD commentary, the filming of the beach party took place in December. The original location was flooded shortly before the scene was shot, and the scene had to be rescheduled at a new location at the last minute. The location that ended up in the film was a sand quarry.
• The party in the beginning of the film is supposed to happen at the end of summer in New England. Filming, however, took place at the end of October in Montreal. The cast and crew had to endure the cold during the shoot.
• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the doctor is talking about what is wrong with Kate, he says "It's like she was bitten by hundreds of insects, like spiders." Spiders aren't insects and a medical doctor should know that.
