This film is one of three pictures that actors Jim Nabors and Burt Reynolds made together, all of them being early 1980s movies. They are: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Stroker Ace and Cannonball Run II.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When dancing to "Sneaking around with you" Ed Earl has a blanket wrapped around him. It changes length and the way it's tied several times.
This was based upon a true story in which investigative reporter Marvin Zindler (who inspired Dom DeLuise's "Melvin P. Thorpe" character) closed down the "Chicken Ranch" brothel in LaGrange, Texas, in 1973. Zindler remained with ABC affiliate KTRK-TV in Houston until his death in 2007.
