Jon Cryer (Dad Thompson) and James Spader (Mr. Black) last appeared together in the movie Pretty in Pink.
Black Falls Community is in the shape of the wishing rock.
Helvetica Black is also the name of a widely used font, her brother's name Cole Black is obviously a play on words (coal black).
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Loogie wished to have the telephone gone, he was eating cereal and clearly wasn't holding the rock when he made the wish. The rock was on the table next to his bowl.
