Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (factual errors): Jockey Ron Turcotte interviewed by the Toronto Star advises that trainer Lucien Laurin did not golf (he was an avid fisherman) and dressed rather conservatively.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): Jockeys on rival horses are clearly and obviously being "stiffed" so that Secretariat can win races. All of the jockeys would be suspended for at least 60 days for failure to ride their mount.
  • Diane Lane called the blond wig that she wore "Peaches." The hairstyle was modeled after Jackie Onassis, and pictures of the former First Lady were tacked up all over the makeup trailer.
  • The scene where Penny can't make it to Kate's play, listens on the phone, and collapses in sobs on the hotel bed was done in one take. The director said he was so emotionally involved in the scene he couldn't have shot another one.
