A picture, widely distributed on the Internet, features the name of this movie sandwiched between Erin Brockovich and My Dog Skip on a marquee, thus spelling out the phrase "Erin Brockovich Screwed My Dog Skip".
In addition to the lead characters' names being a play on Presidential names, the investigating Detective is named Tom Dewey. Thomas E. Dewey was a candidate in the 1948 Presidential Election, and subject of the notorious Chicago Tribune headline "Dewey defeats Truman" on November 3, 1948.
When Ms. Crock flips through the channels on Grover's TV, the Edward D. Wood Jr. movie Glen or Glenda can be briefly seen. Writers/directors Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski wrote the movie Ed Wood.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When Willard and Rusty are being shot at by Grover in the police car, he shoots bullet holes in the hood, then the holes go away and he shoots new ones in again in a different shot.
