The Australian director Baz Luhrmann teleports the romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet tale from the Italian Verona to the Latin-American Verona Beach. The film was a success with it’s original dialogue from the MTV aesthetic and with guns as the weapon of choice.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (continuity error): When Juliet was getting out of the pool and pulling Romeo onshore, her white dress was wet and stuck to her body. But in the next shot her dress was totally dry and only her hair remained wet.
Movie Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Mercutio fires his gun at the beach as the Nurse is leading Romeo away to talk to him, there is a gunshot, but no flash or blowback.
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When we first see Juliet's house, the fountain footage is running in reverse.
Claire Danes was only three years older than the character she played. It was her first ever experience of performing Shakespeare.
