Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): In the opening shot flying over the estates in Newport, visitors can be seen at some of the mansions. As the film is set in 1983, some of the mansions would have been open to the public like The Breakers or Marble House.
  • According to casting director Howard Feuer, Glenn Close was paid "an outrageous fortune" for three weeks' work as the leading lady. And while leads Jeremy Irons and Ron Silver were paid quite handsomely, supporting players Julie Hagerty, Fisher Stevens and Uta Hagen had to settle for scale plus 10.
  • CAMEO(Alan M. Dershowitz) appears briefly in profile as one of the appellate judges, just as they are sitting down at the appeal.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When the intern wants to quit the project and heads for the door, the negative was flipped. Her books and pocket book switch arms between shots.
