Movie Goof (revealing mistake): At the end of the movie when Terry comes around the bus on roller skates playing a ukulele, you can see the smoke stacks of the RMS Queen Mary (a museum/hotel in Long Beach, CA) reflected in the bus windows.
SPOILER: The scene where the team blows up a whale is based upon an actual incident that occurred in Florence, Oregon; November 12, 1970. A beached whale was removed by explosions. Just as in the movie, there was property damage from raining blubber. Video footage of this incident can be found around internet. was reported.
Movie Goof (continuity error): Dep. Wiegle's braids disappear and reappear in successive scenes, it's doubtful she would have time to get them redone based on the timing of the scenes.
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When they are trying to push the whale off the beach and Junior falls into the blow hole you can see the foam and rubber that make up the whale.
